The Cultural Heritage Law in Colombia, known as Law 397 of 1997, has had a significant impact on the preservation and promotion of the country’s cultural heritage.

The conservation and protection of numerous cultural properties and historical monuments in Colombia. This includes the restoration and maintenance of buildings, archaeological sites, churches, museums and other elements of tangible cultural heritage.

It has promoted cultural tourism in Colombia by highlighting the importance of cultural sites and events. Many of the properties protected by the law have become important tourist destinations that attract national and international visitors.

The law established mechanisms for the registration and cataloging of cultural property and historic monuments. This has facilitated the identification and documentation of Colombia’s cultural assets.
